Sir William Gray joined the EGIS Shipbuilding Company. . Their first ship had not been completed before the EGIS Co. went out of business, and was merged with Gray’s to form William Gray and Company (1918) Ltd. Gray’s existed in this form until 1923, when it changed its name for the final time, back to William Gray and Company Ltd.
