It is time for Oktoberfest 2013. We are delighted to invite you through this, our Oktoberfest Website to attend two weekends of great Family Fun at our 40th Oktoberfest.::text Like every year; this year we have also organized for you an extensive Oktoberfest program, two authentic German Bands "direct in" from the great Munich Oktoberfest, great food items and of course great beer.
Now some people may wonder what is so important about this beer-happy family festival.
For one, particularly here in the USA this festival brings hundreds of thousands of fans together at one table in an atmosphere of "Friendship and Gemütlichkeit" with people of all nationalities. Moreover; right after the Second World War the German festivals in particular gave the former wartime enemies a chance to approach one another and celebrate together - the mingling of cultures with beer and Bavarian band music. Most Americans enjoyed their time in Germany and brought parts of the German culture; especially the Oktoberfest, back with them to the USA.
This was also how the first Oktoberfest came about here at the American German Club 40 years ago. It all started as a Sunday picnic very much::text like the first Oktoberfest in Germany when King Ludwig threw a weekend party to celebrate his wedding. I hope you enjoy our informative presentation and look forward to seeing you at our annual Oktoberfest.
