1: P1 - Green Lake Elementary to McDonald International School and Wallingford
Connects Green Lake Community Center to Green Lake Elementary School to McDonald International School to Wallingford.
The single most important route we've identified through Tangletown. It will create a safer route for McDonald International School and Green Lake Elementary school children, connect the McDonald and Green Lake Schools with several other schools nearby, and connect the Wallingford, Tangletown and Green Lake neighborhoods.
Más sobre P1 - Green Lake Elementary to McDonald International School and Wallingford2: P1 - North Green Lake Route
Connects Green Lake with North Seattle Community College and the future pedestrian/bike overpass at Northgate Link station. This route will also create a safe route to Blanchett High School.
Más sobre P1 - North Green Lake Route3: P1 - 53rd/54th West-East Connection
This alignment takes advantage of the existing SDOT/SPS walking route, and the existing crosswalk on Meridian. It is the most direct E-W route to the McDonald School. This route would create a safer passage for McDonald International School children.
Más sobre P1 - 53rd/54th West-East Connection6: P(1.5) Woodlawn Tangletown Route
This is a low-elevation gain route from Green Lake to Wallingford. Although it is an easier ride, and an excellent route for cyclists going between these two neighborhoods, it doesn't serve the Tangletown business district or the McDonald International School.
Más sobre P(1.5) Woodlawn Tangletown Route7: P2 - Green Lake Cycle Track--Southeast Segment
The proposed two way cycle track would be a loop around Green Lake that would either be on the road (lake side of Green Lake Way or Dr) or on a segregated trail near Aurora. This route would connect with many of the proposed neighborhood connectors (e.g., Ravenna, 77th, etc.). Ideally, the cycle track would be separated from car traffic with some variety of barrier.
Más sobre P2 - Green Lake Cycle Track--Southeast Segment15: Green Lake to Zoo Connector
This is a potential route to connect Green Lake to one of the old Woodland Park pedestrian overpasses, and then to the zoo entrances.
Más sobre Green Lake to Zoo Connector16: Zoo Connector
There is a dirt trail along the eastern edge of the Woodland Park Zoo, between the zoo and Aurora Ave. There is potential here to create a greenway to connect Green Lake to the main zoo entrance.
Más sobre Zoo Connector19: 1st Ave Alignment
1st Ave NE was discussed as a potential greenway alignment. A well-designed crossing at 50th could be a great benefit to cyclists and pedestrians, but the Sunnyside alignment directly serves more schools.
Más sobre 1st Ave Alignment20: Light Rail Connector
E-W connection to Roosevelt Light Rail station and the NE Seattle P1 Route on Brooklyn. This route parallels the NE Seattle route on 62nd, but this alignment would make a better connection from NE Seattle to Green Lake.
Más sobre Light Rail Connector22: 50th Street Connection to University District
This is a very tough street, but it is one of the few current connections to the U-District.
This alignment connects the sharrows on Latona/Thackeray to the alignments in the University District.
Más sobre 50th Street Connection to University District29: P1 - Sharrows and McDonald School Crossing of St at Latona
This is an extremely important crossing--although it's not associated with a proposed greenway route, it is the crossing for the sharrows on Latona and Thackeray. It is also the location of a designated crossing for McDonald International and will be assigned a crossing guard because of the hazard of crossing at this location.
The transition of the northbound-southbound couplet of Thackeray and Latona to the south to the two-way street of Latona to the north creates a confusing and dangerous situation for pedestrians and cyclists.
Two blocks to the west, the eastbound channels transition from one lane to two, and motorists are increasing their speeds and spreading traffic into two lanes as they approach the freeway onramps.
The combination of sharrows, designated elementary school crossing, the couplet and one of the more highly traveled E-W arterials in north Seattle make at least as important as the crossing of 50th by the P1 route at Sunnyside.
Más sobre P1 - Sharrows and McDonald School Crossing of St at Latona31: P1 - Route Crossing of 50th.
50th Street divides the McDonald School reference area. Children well within biking or walking distance need better options for crossings. This intersection is also the location of the P1 route for the Wallingford-Green Lake Greenway alignment.
Children coming from the Wallingford Co-op Preschool need to cross three streets to get to the Meridian Playground. The traffic signal here is not optimized for pedestrians or bikes--it is a very short signal.
Because of all the needs this crossing serves--kids from Meridian School, the McDonald International School, the Wallingford Co-op, the P1 Greenway route, and other users of the Meridian Playground, this crossing needs better infrastructure and signaling.
Más sobre P1 - Route Crossing of 50th.32: P1 - 53rd/Meridian Crossing
The north leg of Meridian/53rd is specified in the SDOT/SPS walking plan as a crosswalk for the McDonald School. There are no traffic calming measures along Meridian between 50th and 55th. According to the survey done by the McDonald International School, this is considered a dangerous crossing by many parents. This Crossing needs traffic calming.
Más sobre P1 - 53rd/Meridian Crossing34: P1 - 50th and 5th Ave NE
Children walking or biking from the U-District to the McDonald International School will need to cross this dangerous intersection.
Más sobre P1 - 50th and 5th Ave NE35: P1 - Densmore Ave N/N 85th St Crossing
There is no light at this critical crossing of a heavily-used arterial. An effective greenway will require better pedestrian and bike infrastructure here.
Más sobre P1 - Densmore Ave N/N 85th St Crossing37: P1 - Corliss Ave N-N 80th St
The greenway alignment takes a jog at this intersection. For an effective greenway, better bike and pedestrian crossing infrastructure is needed to cross this hazardous intersection.
Más sobre P1 - Corliss Ave N-N 80th St40: Hidden Walkway
There's a tight little walkway here that people use to get to the bus stop. It's barely passable by bike, but this could be a good connection to improve in the future.
Más sobre Hidden Walkway41: SPS/SDOT pedestrian crossing
The east leg of 1st/55th is specified in the SDOT/SPS walking plan as a crosswalk for the McDonald School.
Because of the increased traffic from school buses, parent vehicles and McDonald School staff vehicles when the McDonald School opens, this is a very important crossing. There are not even curb cuts here.
Más sobre SPS/SDOT pedestrian crossing42: SPS/SDOT pedestrian crossing

The south leg of Meridian/63rd is specified in the SDOT/SPS walking plan as a crosswalk for the McDonald School.
With what is essentially six legs, this intersection can be confusing and hazardous. There is a lot of space in the traveled way for lane reduction and potential for rechannelization of some wide intersections.

Más sobre 65th St/1st Ave Crossing47: Greenway Route Crossing of 50th St at 1st Ave.
Very good candidate for at least a pedestrian/bike activated traffic signal. Currently without a signal, this small commercial district and potential greenway crossing is hazardous to cyclists and pedestrians.
Más sobre Greenway Route Crossing of 50th St at 1st Ave.48: Old Pedestrian Tunnel?
I recall there was an old pedestrian underpass here--it's been closed for decades. I'm not a big fan of underground pedestrian tunnels, but we should look at the possibility of it be re-used as a greenway connection under Aurora.
Más sobre Old Pedestrian Tunnel?52: N 92nd St/Burke Ave N.
Cul-de-sac on the south leg of this intersection may need a cut-through for bikes. Otherwise, there are good crosswalks at this 3-way stop.
