1: Royal Albert

Travel Information:

Docklands Light Railway: Royal Albert Station

Directions:
When exiting the station, cross the road and walk towards the waterfront, turn left and walk down to the end of the office building

Notes:
This is a fantastic place to photograph aircrafts landing on 09, you have a view of Docklands in the background and you have the airport right in front of you. With long enough lens you can read the registrations without any problems. You won't get any obstructions if you are in front of the lamp posts.

Photographic note: When the sun starts to set the sun is on the right hand side, so any take-offs or landings can be a problem as you will have significant glare.

If aircrafts are taking off from 27, you get some great shots as they are climbing out, however you may get a few obstructions on the runway as the aircraft is rotating.

Security:
Police and private security in cars do make regular drives right down towards the end of the office building. If stopped, generally they are more interested in your aircraft knowledge

3: Tereza Joanne Car park

Travel Information:

Docklands Light Railway: King George V / Gallions Reach
Buses: 474

Directions: (Requires Checking)
There are three options.

Option One:
Take the 474 to North Woolwich, Bascule Bridge (Stop J or Stop K)

Option Two:
Take the Docklands Light Railway towards King George V and attempt to walk from the station to the bridge

Option Three:
Take the Docklands Light Railway towards Gallions Reach, leave the station and cross over the bridge

At The Bridge:
Once you have reached the bridge walk towards the junction where there is an industrial area, you need to walk down the road. As it curves, make the first left and then follow the road until it goes under the bridge, keep going and then choose your spotting location.

Notes:
You are very close to runway 27 for arrivals and departures, so you'll get good close up side views as they taxi onto runway 27. Be aware that if you walk even closer to the end of the dock, you may actually get jet washed.

Security:
Police and private security in cars do make regular drives right down towards the end of the office building. If stopped, generally they are more interested in your aircraft knowledge

4: Royal Albert Bridge

Travel Information:

Docklands Light Railway: Custom House Station

Directions:
When you get off at Custom House, leave the station over the bridge towards the EXCEL Centre. As you walk down the steps, turn left and walk towards the bridge. You'll then need to walk up or use the noisy lift to the top.

Notes:
This is a good place for passing landing shots towards 09, you have a good view of the runway with a very long lens (300mm or bigger).

Take off shots may be more difficult due to the angle of accent however as of writing cannot confirm if that is the case.
