As many of you know, the Sahel region is currently in a food crisis; 20 million people are at risk of malnourishment because of drought and poor harvests last year. In late June and early July, I will be traveling to three rural communities in Mali, east and south of the capital Bamako, to photograph and interview farmers about how they cope with weather and climate variability and how they use information such as rainy season forecasts and crop yield estimates to make decisions on when and what to plant. Follow @fiondella and @climatesociety to get updates.
