Most people think all of the nuclear bombs tested in the US wee out in the desert. Not so.
The two nuclear detonations were performed in a subterranean salt dome formation in Mississippi, as part of a 1960's Atomic Energy Commission Test. The test program, called Project Dribble, called for creating an underground cavity, using a nuclear bomb to do so, then later detonating a second nuclear device, as well as two gas explosives, inside the cavity. The purpose of the test was to measure the patterns of the shock waves generated by the explosions, to be better able to detect and calculate yields of similar underground tests that might be performed by the USSR. The first detonation, to form the cavity, code-named Salmon, took place in 1964 using a 5.3 kiloton bomb, placed at the bottom of a sealed 2,710 foot shaft. The second nuclear blast, a relatively small 0.38 kilotons yield shot code-named Sterling, was exploded within Salmon's 110 foot diameter cavity more than two years later. The two conventional explosives shots were performed in 1969 and 1970.

Mississippi Hydraulic Model
A 200 acre functional model of the entire Mississippi River drainage area, located on a field surrounded by forests, and now abandoned. Constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers to model the flow characteristics of the river, as part of the design process for their numerous flood control structures. Built in the late 1940's, initially using forced labor from a German POW camp established next to the site, and used last in the early 1980's, the model is in a public park, and is still owned by the Army Corps.

Be prepared to have difficulty finding Mrs. Leatha's, but this place is worth getting a little lost for. It is located behind an RV dealership on busy US-98 west of Hattiesburg. The first thing you see when you get past the RVs is a building with lots of wood and smoke pouring out of the vent in the roof. This is what I want to see at a BBQ parlor. The restaurant is in a separate old building next door.

Providence Hill Farm LLC is where the History Channel show 'Full Metal Jousting' is filmed
HISTORY is bringing back the most dangerous collision sport in history and transforming it into a 21st-century event. But this is no Renaissance fair as the toughest riders in the nation face off in a bone-crushing competition for big money. It's as intense as it was 500 years ago, but with a twist: Traditional armor is replaced by modern suits of steel, while action is captured by high-speed cameras. Each episode features full-contact jousts in which jousters charge and collide at 30 miles an hour, and every joust is a test of courage and strength requiring nerves of steel. The last man standing takes home the cash as this extreme sport is reborn.

Tupelo Fixed Base Operator (FBO) frequency.
In the aviation industry, a fixed base operator (also known as fixed base of operation), or FBO, is a service center at an airport that may be a private enterprise or may be a department of the municipality that the airport serves. The term is originally North American, but it is becoming more common in Europe and the UK.
At a minimum, most FBOs offer aircraft fuel, oil, and parking, along with access to washrooms and telephones. Some FBOs offer additional aircraft services such as hangar (indoor) storage, maintenance, aircraft charter or rental, flight training, deicing, and ground services such as towing and baggage handling.
FBOs may also offer services not directly related to the aircraft, such as rental cars, lounges, and hotel reservations.
